Always an Active Community Member
Victoria Weigold | Marketing Communications Coordinator
Rapid Insight is very fortunate to be located in the heart of the beautiful Mount Washington Valley. We always strive to be an active member of such a special and tight knit community. The MWV is not only a wonderful area to visit due to its appealing landscape, but it also encompasses an awesome community, and we love to celebrate that in any way we can!
Every employee at Rapid Insight is involved in the community in their own way. This participation varies from volunteering at fundraisers, skiing and running races, boy scouts, local farms and non-profit boards, to working on volunteer data science projects! We even have four employees, including myself, who are graduates of the Valley’s local high school. All went off to various institutions for college and have returned to Conway as young professionals.
One of our involvements in the community is sponsoring a local athlete, Sean Doherty, who hails from Center Conway, here in the heart of our community. Sean competes in the sport of biathlon, one of the most physically and mentally taxing sports, combining the conditioning of nordic skiing with the skills of marksmanship. Interestingly enough, biathlon is also the most watched Winter sport in the world, with weekly TV audiences averaging 30 million people.
Sean was an Olympian at age 18 and is the most decorated junior biathlete in the history of the sport. Currently age 21, he competes now on the senior World Cup circuit. This week and next he is at the World Championships in Hochfilzen, Austria. We cheer on Sean from our offices, watching the online streams of the races. It makes us all proud to be able to sponsor an athlete of Sean’s abilities, humility and integrity.
A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to interview Sean by phone as he was in-between races in Europe. Here is a link to that interview: http://seandohertybiathlete.com/catching-up-with-sean-doherty-a-mid-season-chat-during-the-201617-biathlon-world-cup-circuit/
Here is another link to a Team USA article about the World Champs taking place right now:
You can watch Sean tomorrow 2/11 at 8:45 AM online as competes in a sprint race tomorrow in bib 97. The top 50 athletes in this contest will move on to the Pursuit race later this weekend.
