Key Findings

Surveyed customers are overall quite satisfied with their advanced analytics platforms, with an average rating of 6.2 out of 7, and individual vendors were rated from 5.5 to 6.7.

Several platforms from high-profile vendors, including Leaders from Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms,” were rated by surveyed customers as below average for meeting the organization’s intended business objectives.

Several less prominent vendors were rated highly for predictable and controllable costs, value per dollar spent, and overall customer satisfaction.

Recommendations

Have an established series of use-case scenarios for advanced analytics and data science, including the user skills and your reasons for buying, before investing in an AAP.

Take stock of the user skills in your organization before selecting an AAP, and figure out whether your user base is mostly composed of data scientists or business analysts.

Use this research to determine which advanced analytics platforms are a fit for your organization’s needs and to understand how users perceive vendor strengths and weaknesses.
