May 18th, 2009 Conway, NH - Many colleges and universities use predictive modeling to determine enrollment probabilities for inquiries and applicants. Now, thanks to New Hampshire-based Rapid Insight's Lost Applicants Analysis, schools can fully analyze the applicants who they've accepted but who have chosen to attend other institutions.
With the new Lost Applicants solution template, Rapid Insight software users can quickly perform a detailed analysis that provides information on the top schools that applicants are being lost to, along with profiles of the types of students who are choosing each competitor institution, giving the school valuable information to aid in recruiting efforts.
Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina was one of the first colleges to take advantage of Rapid Insight's Lost Applicants Solution template. A state-assisted four-year university with the majority of students from South Carolina, Lander draws its 2,700 member student body from 23 states and 16 foreign countries.
Mac Kirkpatrick, Lander's Director of Institutional Research, says, "Lost Applicants Analysis is exactly the kind of thing we were looking for. It's been a huge help, enabling us to understand patterns and trends, and make data-driven decisions, instead of having to rely on anecdotal information. For instance, it will help solidify our knowledge of who our competitors are and the best geographic locations for recruiting."
The Lost Applicants solution enabled Lander University to merge their historical applicant data with data from the National Student Clearinghouse and to quickly produce a set of analyses and reports. Kirkpatrick has high praise for the Rapid Insight team. "The Rapid Insight team was very helpful, providing the template with detailed instructions, and walking us through the process, which quickly made sense." Adding the fall 2009 data will help Lander's staff see how the economy has impacted the college's admissions.
Didi Oxner, Rapid Insight's Director of Client Operations explains "Over the past six months, we've rolled out a series of solution templates which make it very easy to perform key analyses that are important to higher education institutions. We provide these templates at no charge to our customers to empower them to quickly broaden the range of analyses that they are utilizing our software products for." Kirkpatrick concludes, "We're still analyzing the data, and we're just starting to use the knowledge we've gained, but we're very excited about the ability to better focus our resources, based on our findings. I think the data will not only be helpful for Admissions and Financial Aid staff; it will be interesting to the faculty, as well."
Rapid Insight's solution development team continues to create templates that give customers the ability to more fully exploit the advanced capabilities of their analytic software. They currently provide solution templates for student retention analysis, inquiry yield optimization, applicant enrollment modeling, and alumni 'propensity to give' modeling. These solutions and software are being utilized in over 150 colleges and universities.
